Mike’s Cup Competition

🏆 The Inaugural Mike’s Cup Competition 

Today 20 BLTC Senior Members came together for the first edition of Mike’s Cup.

Mike gave the club this beautiful cup last year before he returned to his home county of Romania.

It was fitting that Mike was in attendance for its first addition.

The format of the competition was as follows -

15-minute rounds. Players play as many games as they can in the allotted time.

No advantage scoring. If the score reaches deuce, it’s a sudden death point to win the game.

If the score in points in a game is even when the round ends (15:15 for example) a sudden death point is played to win that game. Otherwise the team leading when the whistle is blown wins that game.

If players are tied in equal games at the blow of the whistle, again a sudden death point will be played to see who will move up a court.

Changing partners – at the end of each round losers stay on court, winners move up a court and new pairings are formed. Winners of Court 1 move up to Court 5.

After 6 rounds we had our winners -

Ladies Winner - Lynda with 28 Games
Men’s Winner - Mike with 24 Games

Ladies Runner Up - Jayne 20 Games
Men’s Runner Up - Joint Runner’s Up David H and Adrian with 22 games

It was a fun afternoon for all. We finished the afternoon off with light refreshments with delicious savoury and sweet items for all participants.

Our next on court social activity will be the clubs Festive Mixer on Saturday 20th December.
